Emergency Board Up After a Break-In

The Brief

A commercial unit in Hull was forced overnight and left wide open, exposing stock and the premises to the weather and further entry. The owner called our 24-hour line first thing and needed the unit made safe and secure before the working day started.

What We Did

We treated it as an emergency call-out and worked to get the unit secure and the owner trading again as quickly as possible. Our work included:

• Rapid response: We were on site within the hour with a fully equipped vehicle
• Damage assessment: We assessed and documented the damage for the owner's insurance claim
• Make safe: We boarded the broken door and glazing and removed any hazards
• Make secure: We secured the damaged locking mechanism so the unit could not be reopened
• Follow-up plan: We quoted in full for the permanent door and lock repair to follow

The Result

The unit was made safe and secure the same morning, with clear documentation for the insurer. The owner was able to carry on trading while we arranged the permanent repair, with no further exposure to break-ins or weather.
